Demonstration on Faceting 

Jack Spinks Biography - Born in Tahlequah OK and raised in Westville OK on the OK/Ark border he has been a lifelong rockhound.  He left in 1973 to earn a MS in Engineering from OSU and worked as a civil and industrial engineer until retirement in 2014.  He then took a job as a quality tech traveling the US to calibrate various plant quality labs during which time he made acquaintance with miners and dealers at various shows and mines.  While working in the DFW area he renewed his love of rocks and pursued learning silversmithing starting around 2000. 

After taking a number of course from various source he became beginning silversmithing instructor at Arlington TX Gem Club for 5 years, Casting supervisor, a facetor, lapidary supervisor, show and dealer chairman for several years, Faceting swap meet organizer, and helped start their chasing and repousse program.  He has also taken a number of additional courses in various lapidary and jewelry arts areas.

He is now officially retired to Westville OK where he resides on a homestead and operates Cherokee Hills Artisan LLCin an 1800 ft building dedicated to jewelry and lapidary where he and his wife teach basic and advanced silversmithing, faceting, lapidary, chasing/repousse, enameling. and casting of various types when he is not gardening, beekeeping,  or selling jewelry at local shows and shops.   His goal is to teach as many as possible the older ways of doing things and wont use computer aided design or mfg. Therefore most classes are under $100 for 4 hours to encourage participation.
